This is actually perfectly timed with an earlier post that we published today (Daniel Roizer‘s Top 10 Code Snippets) and may be of use for those that are considering a place to house all those neat and great code snippets that you use, and reuse, and reuse, and then reuse some more. For those that have been developing for sometime you know that this organization process of previous work and code can help speed up the process of further development, especially if it’s organized in a way that maximizes speed and effectiveness. Take a look at this free app and service […]
As many of you I’m a huge user of RSS – I still think there’s something powerful about that protocol and unless something dramatic changes I don’t see it leaving us anytime soon. Unfortunately, the applications that we use to read RSS seem to not stick around too long, the biggest and most recent example being Google Reader. I’ve already chosen my replacement for starters, which you can read about here: Feedly. But I’m not terribly happy with it although it does work so I’m still looking out for other alternatives and possibilities and I found one that got me excited […]
Not everything needs to be WordPress and you’ve seen that we canvas and cover other open source technologies and publishing apps that help keep us here in the world of WordPress on our toes technologically and aesthetically as the marketplace expands. You can safely assume that we’ll continue to cover such apps because it’s just good for the soul, especially open source technology and applications that philosophically match with us well. The documentation project that the community has been working on, spearheaded and lead by Siobhan McKeown, is continuing to build steam and she’s involved the community at every step of the way. Right now she’s looking for your feedback in terms of a survey that she’s putting together to get people to answer about the documentation. As she relates, the point of this particular survey is to:
John James Jacoby updated a little note that bbPress 2.3.2 has been released as a bug fix release. Just 8 total issues as listed below:
As reported by Pingdom, it seems that the growing rate of adoption for WordPress is continuing to rise with no end in sight growing 4% from 48% to 52% since last year: We grabbed the list of the top 100 blogs in the world from Technorati and tried to identify which blogging platform or CMS the site is using. Out of the 100 blogs, we could identify and verify the platform in use by 94 of the sites. For the other 6, we could not ourselves confirm the platform, nor did we get any replies from the sites when reaching out to […]
So the big news yesterday was that an entire community found itself collectively crying (some on the inside, some very vocally) that Adobe Fireworks would see the final writing on the wall, signed, sealed, and delivered, and that the continuing life of the storied application would be no more: Due to this overlap and as well as our change in our product development focus, we have decided not to update Fireworks to CC and instead will focus on developing new tools to meet our customers needs. For some, this is like a knife in the heart as they’ve built their […]

There is a growing market for niche-base hosting solutions and Flywheel is no different – in fact, with a recent round of venture capital in their backpockets and full-time staff now to manage the growth of customers (now into 150+), they are gearing up for even more growth this year: Flywheel’s offering isn’t altogether different from the outside than other managed hosting services – they take care of the WordPress updates, site backups, malware scans, with a control panel to boot. One of the things in relation the to admin is that it’s “stripped back and features a workflow tailored to […]
Ok. Let’s have a competition, shall we? I’ve been messing with Chrome’s new Experimental Game called Maze and I’ve spent far too much of my valuable Monday morning trying to navigate some of the more popular websites out there in a game of classic Marble Madness and it occurred to me how fun it would be to have a little competition of sorts. So, after you get your bearings and experience the awesomeness of this Google Chrome experiment, let’s see who can win in our Community Game Challenge:
