Apparently an enterprising individual took the initiative to build a very rudimentary WordPress plugin to activate Google+ Comments into your WordPress-powered blog only a few days after the initial announcement by Google themselves that they were bringing the new comment system to Blogger. Now its still in early development so dont be surprised if its lacking a few features, I’ll be working on those right away as well as feedback from any of you as well. So I’d imagine a few releases in quick succession as the G+ Commenting System gets rolled out to more people will undoubtedly happen. The […]

Although we’re already four months into this 2013 year I was looking through some development documents for Chrome and I happened upon an implementation that made me think about Firefox, an old love of mine. I’ll admit it, for most of my professional life I have used Firefox – the switch happened a few years ago to Google Chrome as my primary browser, but all through college and my early professional years I used Firefox. Ah, sweet, sweet memories. Then something happened where development with it really plummeted and things just started getting weird. I know that’s not much of […]
Time is money my friends and what is one of the biggest time sucks that we’ve all experienced? Yes, that’s right, updating plugins and WordPress themes. Especially if you’ve been around for a while and have a long-list of clients and customers’ sites to manage, you probably spend an incredible amount of time updating their sites manually. Or, perhaps, you do have a system but it’s still not 100% automatic. Well, maybe you’re in the market for a solution that may really suit your particular workflow and update style or at least be in the market for an alternative.
Well, the speculation is over – Mr. Bachhuber has joined Human Made Limited as a Senior Engineer joining the likes of such people like Joe Hoyle, Paul de Wouters, Tom Willmot, Owain Cuvelier, Theo Savage, and the often-quoted and opinionated (hey, that’s a good thing folks!) Noel Tock. Human Made, a WordPress-centric development shop, has been around for a bit and has had some large clients in their expanding portfolio. Apparently Daniel had done some work in the past with them so he was familiar with their culture and the way they do business. He shared a bit on an announce […]
Tony Perez over at Sucuri shared yesterday a significant vulnerability that’s landed among some of the top plugins used out there which also happen to be the top caching plugins for WordPress. If you’re a fan and a user of WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache then this update is for you! There’s a RCE (Remote Code Execution) vulnerability in these plugins that allows an attacker to execute commands on the blog directly. First discovered by kisscsaby in the WordPress forums it has been quickly dealt with via the plugin authors but that doesn’t mean that you haven’t updated yet! A few other blogs have also […]
That’s right, for a limited time only you can get the 10th Anniversary WordPress Tshirt for just $10! You can get them in black or silver for all sizes, but don’t be surprised if they get hit hard by orders, which means, you should probably order it today! Don’t miss this opportunity to get this commemorative tshirt (wow, do I sound like someone from QVC…).
That’s the question that’s up for grabs as Jen Mylo poses the question publicly in Make.WordPress: …I am wondering if the post formats ui is really prime time ready, or if it should be one of the very first things to land in a 3.7 branch so we can get the things that are completely ready into the hands of users sooner rather than later? You can read the rest of the thread and her reasoning behind bringing up the question in the first place. It’s worth noting, she’s not trying to cause trouble (and neither am I):
The genius of people never ceases to amaze me! We are pretty obvious fans of Bootstrap here at WP Daily as we use it to power this child theme as well as the theme under the hood and it’s helped us develop faster and with better standards ever since we started using it. There are a lot of other great CSS and front-end frameworks out there but there’s few that simply solves the problems of great design as quickly and as simply – so it can be difficult to jump ship when the time comes to choose one to use. […]
Apparently ZippyKid is going to be a whole lot more zippy than before (yes, I suppose I went there). Now, with a new partnership in place, ZippyKid will be delivering even faster speeds for their clients and customers leveraging ngx_pagespeed designed to automatically apply speed and web performance best practices: We partnered with the PageSpeed team at Google to develop a new service designed to dramatically reduce page load times. Best of all, you’ll see significant performance gains without changing a single line of code or installing a plugin. The fact that existing customers won’t have to lift a finger is a big win for […]
