Occasionally Tom, our Technical Editor here at WP Daily, does something good enough to make it here on the blog (just kidding!) and he’s recently made an updated to one of his plugins, Comment Images, that I thought we’d try here on the blog. What is it? Simple enough: Enables your readers to easily add images to their comments. There’s not much more to it to be honest. I uploaded it this morning and I gave it a quick test – it works, as intended:
ThemeShaper has officially announced the release of the first installment of WordPress.com’s Theme Guide! This is pretty much a must-read resource for those engaging with WordPress Theming, especially if you plan on working on some that might be commercial. Michael Fields’ describes how this makes a lot of sense considering how valuable organic conversation over the years is difficult to parse through for those seeking best practices or practical advice of theming. And, of course, it’s nearly impossible to weed through it so as to make sure that you’re not asking a question that’s already been answered! Our peer reviews […]
Jen Mylo shared on the Make Community boards that they are looking for two serious volunteers to help administrate GSoC: Will need two volunteers to be the admins for GSoC, overseeing our application, mentor wrangling, and if we get selected, student wrangling. Good project management skills required, familiarity with core contributors a plus. The admin volunteers would be coordinated via the community group and would work with devs across core, themes, and plugins as needed. This would be some serious work but if you’ve got some time it could be an incredible help. Note that you would really need to know the core […]
Well, there really is something for everything under the sun in terms of WordPress, right? Well, the geniuses over at BracketPress have perfectly timed this release of a new plugin that’ll capitalize on the absolute insanity that is March Madness and the NCAA Basketball Tournament: BracketPress is a free WordPress plugin which enables site owners to run their own Division One NCAA tournament pool. Designed with businesses in mind, this tool enables you to engage and market to your website visitors in a fun and meaningful way. All the while, keeping traffic on YOUR site, with YOUR branding. Yikes! It really […]
Received a tip the other day about a very a neat application (or plugin?) that’s going to be released that appears to be marketed as a management system for online marketing, called CoSchedule. For example, you’ll be able to have a team-oriented approach to your marketing calendar so as to not duplicate effort and to timely release news and marketing collateral to your segment, users, and community. This would include blog posts, email campaigns, social media messages, and more from one interface. To be sure, there are a lot of applications and web services that exist that help do this […]
We covered the announcement of WordSesh late last month and things are moving along steadily and picking up steam. In a notice that I got it seems that they are now looking for speakers for the first event on April 13, 2013! Here’s the official notice from Scott Basgaard, one of the Co-organizers of WordSesh:
Did Mark Hamill know that he’d ever meet a Pagely Yeti? I guess not. I honestly have no earthy idea what they were thinking but it’s kind of cool. Whatever it is, I want one.
Justin Tadlock shared some of the community around Theme Hybrid have released three (yes, 3!) free responsive themes that are pretty attractive looking, I must say. They are Shell, Spine, and Satu. Take a look:

The guys over at WebDevStudios had a little contest that had a number of WordPress users, designers, and developers out themselves by showing their messy (or clean) work environments. We’ve done this before and it’s always neat to see where (and how) some people do their work. Here are some of the neat ones showcased:
