I have yet to fully convert to any mobile blogging application on the market simply because the experience hasn’t been very stellar, besides the features and functions that I need to be successful. But, I want to believe that we can move there and I want to be converted, if possible, since I don’t like to carry my MacBook Air everywhere (although I’m desperately in love with this machine). So when the mobile team pushes out new concept work I’m very interested to see what’s cooking in the mobile kitchen, sotospeak. This time it appears that there were some neat concepts […]
Are you kidding me? Nope – and you should definitely sign up to this creative initiative to get some sweet WordPress-sponsored gear when you head out on your daily ride. The Project WP Cycle is completely legit as they are looking to get official backing by the WordPress Foundation for their poetry in motion initiative (clever). As someone who does cycle on occasion (I started mid last year) I wouldn’t mind this at all. The costs are looking to be around $48 if they can get the momentum around it: A fondness for speedy, efficient, lightweight systems, with the freedom to head […]
Syed Balkhi is one guy that seems to have an unlimited amount of energy. If you follow this guy on Twitter or around the interwebs it appears that he’s in multiple places at the exact same time. I’m not sure if he has a stand-in that’s traveling for him or if he’s somehow managed to clone himself in some futuristic fashion – but whatever it is, it’s working. As we’ve done before in our interview segments, we want to showcase and get a little more information from these successful WordPress-centric personalities and glean a bit if we can. Today we’re […]
Man. The growth of spam is ridiculous and I spend way too much time moderating comments on this blog than I would like to. Sure, there are a billion different ways to manage spam, ham, and everything else in between from a technology perspective (via plugins, 3rd party systems, honeypots, whatever) but sometimes it’s the more simple things that work the best. Take for example Grant Hutchinson‘s Blacklist Keywords for Comments text file that he shared via Github:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htxjBY7Y8us&feature=youtu.be As you may have seen we are sooooooooooooo close to moving into our new office space and I can’t wait – but there are a few things left to do before we can fully get situated. The big thing is that we’ve got internet wired, firewall established, and dedicated IP provisioned. Oh yeah.
Periodic Table of WordPress Plugins? Seriously? Who has time for that?
WP Tavern – we shall miss you greatly! I saw the tweet and I couldn’t believe it – after an incredible run Jeff Chandler is hanging up the digital spurs and moving on to bigger and better things. I’m not exactly sure where the greener pastures are but with his gumption and resolve that we all saw when he built the site up. Even though I wrote a good bye post when WPTavern was sold, Friday marks the day when I'm officially gone from the community. — wptavern (@wptavern) January 23, 2013 It’s been a great run and there have […]
There’s been a lot of confusion surrounding Automattic Inc., the WordPress Foundation, WordPress.org/WordPress.com and everything else in between. So much so that most people unfortunately use all of it interchangeably which is the wrong thing to do. I want to clearly state that there are distinct differences between all of them and that it’s worth knowing what you’re talking about when you start jumping into the muddy waters that is licensing, the GPL, ownership, and developing a WordPress-centric business. At the center of all of this is really the WordPress Foundation so by establishing this we can clearly take a look […]
We’ve gotten a lot of tweets and emails via our contact form in the last week about the overarching GPL debate created recently that has clearly shown that for many this appears to be an entirely new issue which many of us know to be not true. For context and for helping out a lot of people with similar questions I just wanted to clearly state what I’ve been answering a number of people who have asked essentially: “What the heck is going on?!?” @wpdailyco Hey Guys, can you helps us newbies who use Envato to purchase themes understand what the heck is […]
The WordPress Events team via Aaron Jorbin is refining their best practices around global meetups and how organizers are getting the best participation and interaction with their venues and even the refreshments that are offered at the event. The questions posed this week per the latter conversation are: Does your meetup have any sort of refreshments available If you do offer them, How does your meetup procure them? What challenges do you face with refreshments, and how do you try to overcome them? I’m personally all for refreshments as there’s nothing quite sad as a parched crowd, especially since it’s not as much […]
