Wait a second, really? Is customizing the WordPress admin going to become the next big marketplace for premium plugins and such? I know that a lot of people are hot and heavy about the admin UI, especially with stuff like the MP6 plugin but the general feel that the WordPress dashboard look and feel symptomatic of a burgeoning marketplace for admin plugins? Now sure, I know there have been a few that have been around for a while but I’ve seen more traffic into our inboxes as of late with new plugins, new looks, new concept work than ever before. In fact, […]
Pressnomics is just 5 months or so away and it’s already getting exciting! They shared recently that they had sent out a few select invitations to a few WordPressers out there that were making a huge difference in the WordPress economy and I’ve already seen a select number of people via Twitter get there’s. Look, I’ll be honest, I was jealous for a moment (because I’m human, like you), but it was cool, you know, I’m cool with it. And then I got one myself and it was as if the very world blossomed before my eyes – I’m pretty sure […]
As Jorge Bernal shares, the WordPress mobile for iPhone v3.6 is right around the corner as long as some translations get approved and moved forward! Here’s what you can expect:
Who doesn’t like a little more automation in their life? Well, the guys over at WYSIJA have released Packzip, a ruby app that is based on the Sinatra framework that simply integrates GIT and Tansifex command-line client in one tool. What does it do? Simple:
The great videos from WP.TV keep on coming and two recent uploads that are worth a few moments of your time if you’ve got a second strike at the very heart of great online publishing in two ways, the first is simply the power of story and the second is how content curation can make you a better writer. Without question, we are engaged more when there’s a great story being told. It doesn’t require much more than an accurate depiction of what is happening in our lives. We are living some of the greatest stories but very rarely do people […]

Although WordPress wasn’t built with native theme capability out of the gate it was obvious over time that a templating system just made sense. And an entire industry was born, seemingly overnight (and it keeps getting better and better). Well, in an effort to increase the usefulness for anyone interested in building designs for WordPress, Michelle from Marktime Media redesigned to make it easier to read and much more aesthetically pleasing. An interesting take, for sure:
It’s humpday my friends and we’re half-way through the week – it’s that awkward middle part where we’re trying to figure out if we’ve gotten enough done in the first half while looking ahead at the last half and telling ourselves quietly that we’re going to make it out alive. One thing to remember though is that you’re a part of a large community of people in the exact same boat. In fact, for some of us, we are part of a larger team and company that is trying just as hard to make it to the weekend. Why not […]
With the recent news of Tumblr being purchased by Yahoo! for $1.1 billion dollars there have been a ton of comparisons between that purchase and many other blogging services. Naturally, WordPress has been among those comparisons. But WordPress, as a software, is not like Tumblr because it’s open source software whereas Tumblr is not, so the closer comparison is really between Automattic, the largest commercial company and Tumblr as a company. Is Automattic’s valuation even close to Tumblr’s $1.1billion? Well, it might be worth more as the recent liquidity / investment event with Tiger Global. As Fortune shares, “a source familiar […]
Jeff Chandler (Jeffro) has opened the doors back wide open with WPTavern and the patronage is quickly coming back to where the drink is good. It’s been a pleasure to get to know Jeff personally through digital communication over the years and we here at WP Daily are fans – the way we see it is quite simple: The more the merrier! Remember, our manifesto and mission is collaboration over competition (although we enjoy a bit of healthy competition just like the next guy). So I reached out to Jeff and asked if he could spare a few minutes sharing what’s […]
