We’re getting geared up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of WordPress (and if you’re in Atlanta please stop by!) and it’s more than a good time to remember how far we’ve come as a piece of software and a community. Something that was shared recently in our comment section was a new infographic that visually shares some of these neat facts – take a look after the jump:
At first I thought this was a “decision tree” type poster but then I realized it was more of visualization of the WordPress templating conventions and hierarchy! Good stuff! Thanks Nick Pelton who first shared this with us via the Minneapolis WordCamp! Check it out after the jump:
A small snippet of code will do the trick, which will be especially important with the increase use of .svg files, such as the WordPress SVG logo! For example, right now, most of you will experience this issue if you try to upload a .svg file:

I’m incredibly hesitant to join another social network because I’m currently under-going a significant personal purge of distractions but App.net keeps coming back to hit me and I keep getting asked when I’m going to seriously take a look at it and start using it. The main reason that I’m not using it primarily is simply because the community I have around Twitter is long-standing and large and it’s not easy for me to abandon something that’s a big part of not only my daily routine of connection but also a source of valuable information about what’s going on in the […]
You’ve probably heard of Ghost, a concept that was created by John O’Nolan who re-thought everything when it came to blogging, publishing, and the user experience. For a time many thought it would just stay as a “nice idea, thanks” but apparently it’s got some real legs to it with some original concepts and prototypes out and now a bid to win the hearts, minds, and financial backing of the community via Kickstarter. Check the Kickstarter project video here:
It’s been a pretty crazy week here at 8BIT and WP Daily but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t bee fun – we’re having tons of fun getting tons of stuff done, I just wish we had an extra few hours in each day to get it all sorted! This probably isn’t too far from what you guys are experiencing so I’ll just leave it at that, but I hope your resting his weekend and finding time to hang out with those that matter, like your friends, your family, and your bed. I know that I’ve already had my share […]
I got access this morning to the Private Beta of Dunked, a project that we’ve covered historically by a few guys who have some serious experience with WordPress. I was so excited that I moved a few things around to actually walk through the entire application (as best as I could) and make it my own, and I’d love to visually show you what the new portfolio service is all about and get you excited about how you might use it in the very near future. Thanks again to Orman Clark , Gilbert Pellegrom and Mark Southard, the three-man team behind the venture – so […]
I see a lot of apps pass through my digital desk every single day. In fact, if I’m honest, I see too many of them cross my desk and unfortunately most of them are neither very clever or very good – rarely do I see one that disrupts in any sense of the word. And Checkthis isn’t necessarily clever, good, or disruptive either. What caught me was the fact that it has both a mobile component and a web / desktop layer that works fairly well. You see, with this app you can do it all on your phone, creating a […]
A small and quick update for your lunch hour break (if you’re on the eastern seaboard I suppose) about bbPress’ 2.3.1 update that sports a number of bug fixes that you may have run into on your own personal installation. The 3 known bugs that were squashed are as follows: Moderators can once again see trashed topics and replies Posting preformatted code is improved over previous versions Correct cache group deleted for custom posts queries John James Jacoby also mentions an important change as well that you might want to take note of:
