If I understand this correctly then ThemeDemo.co is offering opportunities for you to create private instances of your own theme (if you’re a theme company or theme provider) to potential buyers. So, instead of viewing just the front-end of the demo the potential customer will be able to jump into the back-end as well and experience the theme from the admin level, right? And, after a certain number of hours the theme instance will be removed / disabled, giving the potential buyer a nice notice and then an opportunity to connect directly to the seller for feedback or perhaps even […]
I know, I know. All of us test for Internet Explorer (and previous versions) for every WordPress product, theme, and plugin that we release, right? I mean, no developer in their right mind would ever publicly release a product without testing for IE…?!? *Note rampant sarcasm*
via blog: It’s official. Planning is underway for PressNomics 2.0. The idea of PressNomics is simple: Get the movers and shakers of the WordPress economy in the same physical place and bring in amazing business focused speakers to share their experience, add in some ample social time and see what happens. Bam. There you go.
Have you heard of Flight by Twitter? It’s a lightweight, component-based JavaScript framework that maps behavior to DOM nodes. Twitter uses it for their web applications. Built by the Twitter web team, Flight is distinct from existing JavaScript frameworks that you may be familiar with because this one doesn’t prescribe nor does it provide any particular approach to rending or sending dada to your web app: It’s agnostic to how requests are routed, which templating language you use or even if you render your HTML on the client or the server. While some web frameworks encourage developers to arrange their code […]
The BlackBerry WordPress team now has released version 2.2.6 and is now available through BlackBerry World. This release sees an incredibly more stable version and the fact that it now runs on PlayBook besides BlackBerry 10: Improved support for connecting over HTTPS. Stability improvements. We continue to make the app even more stable. In this release we fixed more than 20 bugs. Code cleanup and optimization. Here are some screens showcased via their announcement post as well:
Matt Mullenweg gets named as one of the 30 Under 30 in the last Forbes and yet he was, originally, only half of the picture when WordPress was just a concept and idea. Mike Little, on the other hand, has not gotten nearly the same amount of press. According to his own bio he now maintains around 40 or so WordPress sites and continues to do development in a small boutique firm, Zed1: In 2003 he helped Matt Mullenweg start a little project which became known as WordPress. They initially worked together with an ever-growing band of volunteer developers to build and […]
Yup. WooThemes is closing down their affiliate program for some very simply stated reasons: We’re sorry to say that we are discontinuing our referral program because of lack of traction for the program. Access to signup and log in has been removed for the time being. Bummer. In a much longer newsletter to existing affiliates, it was clearly stated that not just lack of traction was an issue but also fraud and abuse: I’m in the unfortunate position to let you know that we will be closing our referral program on Friday, 8 February 2013. In the last couple of […]
Today is a milestone for us as the core partners are all hanging out in our new office together. As I mentioned in a previous post we have been and will continue to be a very distributed team but we are spending more time together to make even better progress on our core products and, of course, this blog. This is going to be a big season for us as a group as it’s a ‘make it or break it’ year for us in terms of our core metrics of business success – we’ve been together for 3 years and counting and although […]
I got another update last night as I went to review some comments on my iPhone and it appeared that the WordPress for iOS has hit the 3.4 mile marker with some big updates! Namely, you now can get notifications directly on your device about that stuff that matters the most, like new comments, moderation, stats, followers, and even “likes”. You can, of course, turn these off in your settings. This is for both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org sites. I’m going to test this out myself and see if it get incredibly annoying – I typically have most notifications turned off […]
We’ve seen Year in Reviews (YIR) from Automattic, WordPress.com (and also here), and WordPress.org and those have been great to review to see how far we’ve come as a community. Andrea Middleton has now added to that those YIRs by posting an overview of what WordCamp looked like in 2012 and provided some very neat stats which I’ve consolidated to see how much WordCamps have grown year-over-year:
