Here at WP Daily we’re always on the look out for new WordPress related services and sites. It just so happens that one fell into our crosshairs the other day as Fantasktic was submitted to us for review. I enjoy doing reviews for a number of reasons: It keeps me apprised of what’s new in the WordPress world, gives me an excuse to delve even deeper into a service I wouldn’t otherwise analyze and if we’re being honest it’s fun to share my opinions about what I like and what I think is pointless. With that, it’s on to our review of Fantasktic, […]
One of the biggest challenges for freelancers and contractors, even us WordPressers, is making sure that we’re charging the right amount for the work that we get done. There are tons of strategies and even tools out there for those that are looking to figure out that “sweet spot” for project pricing but to be quite honest, there’s nothing better than just experience. But before you walk through the fire and flames where you may get burned for under-charging for your awesome skills, you may want to have Chris Lema and James Dalman (“Dalema”) take you under their wing for a […]
I walked through a replacement content cost calculator and it literally blew my mind. The concept is simple but the facts are plain for all to see – your content is worth money, literally.
I’m still having conversations, online and offline, about the WordCamp here in Atlanta that we had just last weekend. In fact, I’m getting dinner with a bunch of those folks this coming week so we can continue the conversations and the collaboration! There’s no end to WordPress community, seriously. As we finish up though we’ve been trying to track down great pictures of the event and make sure that we can publicize them and get them the air time they deserve – because it was such an awesome event! But walking through the hashtag #WCATL (WordCamp Atlanta’s hash) isn’t very […]
I’ll let you take at this Google Hangout session that I had last night with these great WordPressers:
Those Envato guys keep rolling out newer and greater things! They have grown incredibly fast over the last few years and it doesn’t appear that they’ll be stopping for a break anytime soon. But this new development is really getting me excited because it really hits the heart behind why we do things here at WP Daily – which is education and helping others achieve great success with WordPress. This new “hub” will be a central location for all of the Tuts+ Network. It’s a new platform that will make it easier for readers to find tutorials, articles, and more. […]
Honestly, we seriously need more WordPress-centric love on Kickstarter – there are only 3 active projects related to WordPress right now! After I launched my own Pressgram project on Kickstarter I started searching around for others like me and I found two here that also need our attention and love. In fact, they are very close to being funded and they need our help to get it done:
WordCamp Miami is just around the corner and it’s looking to shape up into an incredible experience for those that are making their way down south. And looking at the schedule and the calibre of speakers I’d say that it’s going to be well-worth anyone’s time! One talk that caught my attention this morning was via Siobhan McKeown’s blog and her talk about the GPL that got me very excited: What I will be looking at is the history of the GPL, what it is, what it means for WordPress, and how it became part of the project. There are some […]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXdmbgSZtDw It was great meeting you Daniel and even getting a few moments with you on camera! We had a blast and thanks for this quick little “happy” video of last weekend’s event – man, was that fun.
Michael Novotny, who runs QA for 8BIT, launched a new site during his session this weekend at WordCamp Atlanta called WP Test. As Michael explains, WP Test uses “a fantastically exhaustive set of test data to measure the integrity of your plugins and themes.” WP Test will run your themes and plugins though the gauntlet and show you visually where your blog survives and where it breaks. WP test is built off of the WordPress Theme Unit Test Codex as well as 3 years of experience in plugin and theme support, corner cases included.
